The world-famous and incomparable Taj Mahal, the magnificent tomb of Humayun, and the Mughal fortress in Agra tell of famous women and their stories. Women’s modern India also has a lot to say. On this trip you will see the classic highlights in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai (Bombay). In the premises of an NGO you will get to know projects that are dedicated to the education of underprivileged women. In the house of a noble family, you not only look into the cooking pots, but also into the lives of modern Indian women. While having high tea with Indian women, you can chat about Indian and European cultures. You will be enchanted by the colours and scents of the local markets, take a tuk-tuk tour with other women, look over the shoulders of traditional craftsmen, stroll through exclusive fashion boutiques and shake and laugh at the Bollywood dance workshop.! Day 1

Off to India

• Bus transfer Luxembourg/Glacis-Frankfurt Airport.
• Departure (Lufthansa) from Frankfurt to New Delhi at 1:15 p.m.

Day 2

Delhi : Old Delhi and the women

• Arrival at 1:30 a.m., transfer to hotel
• Free time
• Lunch in a modern restaurant
• Rickshaw tour, craft market, spice market
• Tomb of Humayun (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
• Welcome dinner in a stylish palace ambience
• Overnight stay at the Hotel ITC Maurya***** in New Delhi

Day 3

Delhi : Women’s Education in India – visiting an NGO, boutique hopping

• Visit to the NGO ‘Literacy India’ (education underprivileged women), opportunity to work on a project
• Lunch : Lunch box in the NGO premises
• Visit to exclusive fashion boutiques
• Dinner at a local restaurant (traditional cuisine)
• Overnight stay at Hotel ITC Maurya*****

Day 4

Delhi – Agra, Agra Fort and high tea with Indian women

• Drive to Agra
• Lunch in a restaurant
• Visit to the Agra Fort (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
• High tea with a family (discussions about Indian culture, beliefs and value system)
• Walk to the workshops of traditional artisans (Pietra Dura marble inlays, Zardozi embroidery)
• Dinner at the hotel restaurant Peshwari (North Indian cuisine)

Day 5

Agra : Taj Mahal at sunrise, drive Agra – Jaipur

Day 6

Jaipur : Amber Fort, visit to a primary school, Hawa Mahal, palace life and dinner with a local noble family

• Visit the Amber Fort
• Visit to a primary school, conversation with teachers (Indian school system)
• Visit to the Palace of the Winds
• Lunch in a hotel restaurant
• Visit to the City Palace Museum
• Cooking demonstration and dinner in a noble family, discussions about tradition and modernity

Day 7

Jaipur : Yoga, trip to the block printers, leisure or walk through Jaipur

• 7:00 a.m. Yoga (one hour, optional, with instructions)
• Trip to Bagru (block printing, create your own works of art with guidance)

• Tuk-tuk tour with women
• Walk through the old town and to the craftsmen (embroidery, Gota, Kinari, block-printed fabrics)

Day 8

Jaipur – Mumbai, Mumbai : Discoveries in the City of Dreams

• Transfer to Jaipur airport
• Flight Jaipur-Mumbai (9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)

• Visit to Mahatma Gandhi’s former home, discussion about the relevance of his views for today’s life

Day 9

Mumbai : Warli Art and Bollywood

• Warli art (workshop, making your own artwork)
• Bollywood dance workshop
• Lunch at a local restaurant if present : conversation with the owner
• Afternoon at leisure (possibly event for International Women’s Day)

Day 10

Mumbai : The magic of markets, fusion cuisine and fashion boutiques

• Cooking workshop (Persian-Indian fusion cuisine) and lunch in a Persian house
• Visit to exclusive fashion boutiques

Day 11

End

• At 2:55 a.m. you fly with Lufthansa to Frankfurt (flight duration approx. nine hours, arrival 7:25 a.m.)
• Bus transfer from Frankfurt-Luxembourg/Glacis.
