Your GreenKit – Join the reusable movement

Packaging has a value- something we often forget with consuming a lot of single-use plastic around our daily food and drink habits. YourGreenKit highlights the need for change to return value to this packaging with a sustainable, circular and reusable system.

How does it work ?
YourGreenKit, supported by LuxInnovation, aims to replace single-use food boxes and coffee cups by offering ‘packaging-as-a-service’ made with circular material-based alternatives. With YourGreenKit, the user subscribes to two unlimited annual plans : (1) unlimited food deliveries and take-aways in YourGreenBox and (2) unlimited cups reuse of YourGreenCup for your favorite hot drinks take-aways. After finishing their meals or brews, users can drop the box or cup to dedicated collection points, or return them to the partnering coffee places, restaurants, or the delivery person. Hence, containers will move in a closed loop, from restaurants to end-users, across cleaning facilities, and finally back to restaurants, ready to be refilled for the next clients.

You will never feel bad for ordering food or for buying your favorite drink-to-go : Reuse & Return without creating waste !

And the best part ? For every return, users collect points that can be used to get reductions at their favorite restaurants or coffee shops.

Our technology will enable us to follow each box and cup along their lifetime so that no product ever gets lost again ! This will not only help reduce waste and keep the products in a loop, but also for us to give users and partnering restaurants regular reports on their contribution to CO2 reduction !

Why is it important ?
Luxembourg has one of the lowest recycling rates for plastic packaging in Europe (32,3% in 2018 according to Eurostat), which highlights some serious gaps in recycling that cannot be hidden anymore. Additionally, end-of-life assumptions of most single-use and recyclable materials are disastrous : for example, aluminum is 54% recycled and 46% landfilled ; paper lids in the aluminum container go 54% incinerated and 46% landfilled ; silicone and polyethylene (in packaging) are 100% directed to landfilling (according to lifecycleinitiative.org)

How are we different ?
At YourGreenKit, we understand that recycling is not always the right approach and therefore we focus on ‘Reusing’. Also, we aim to create products made of circular materials reinforced with natural fibers. By using natural fibers or recycled polymers, our chosen compounds can reduce the carbon footprint of single-use boxes (PVC) by up to 57%. Moreover, our objective is to ensure that our product’s LCA (life-cycle assessment) not only covers a carbon-neutral production path, but also guarantees that our products’ end-of-life is taken care of. As such, after the end-of-life, YourGreenKit products will be upcycled into new products. In this way, we want to guarantee that the boxes and the cups do not end up being incinerated or in landfill.
Packaging materials have a longer life than the packaging itself and YourGreenKit is here to show our community that a circular loop system is indeed possible.
